Postnatal Doula in Wandsworth, SW London
I offer calm emotional, physical and practical postnatal support to families in Wandsworth and surrounding areas. My role is to support you during the early weeks after birth, helping you feel rested, reassured, and confident as you recover and adjust to life with your baby.
What is a postnatal doula?
A postnatal doula in Wandsworth (also known as a postpartum doula) provides in-home support to families during the weeks and months after birth. This personalised care focuses on postnatal recovery, newborn care, and emotional and physical wellbeing - helping parents feel supported, confident, and less overwhelmed.
As a local postnatal doula, I offer compassionate, evidence-based support tailored to your family’s needs and situations, in the comfort of your own home
How do I support families after birth?
If you’re feeling worried, overwhelmed, or simply unsure - before or after birth - you’re not alone. I can support you with all or any of the following:
Feeding support
Emotional support and birth debriefing
Physical post birth support
Looking after the baby so you shower / nap / eat
Light cooking and meal preparation
Laundary and gentle household help
Planning and essential guidance
Shopping, running errands and appointment support
Reliable information and signposting to trusted professionals
Accompany you to GP & other specialist appointments
Leaving the house and that allusive first outing
I offer packages of either 15 or 21 hours which can be taken in individual sessions of 3 or 4 hours. I also offer hourly or 2 hourly add hoc requests on a case by case basis
What a typical postnatal session looks like
Postnatal sessions usually last between 3-4 hours (I do take on shorter 1-2 hour sessions on a case by case basis) and I am there to help and support you in whatever way you need and I promise every day will be different. This is why I will always start with the question ‘how can I help or what do you need today’.
“I’m desperate for a shower or a sleep or 5 minutes to myself” - that’s no problem let me take the baby for a bit
“the washing pile has overflowed and I’ve ran out baby clothes” - again no problem I will do the washing
“my baby is feeding all the time and my nipples are so sore - why is this happening?” - no problem, lets talk through the various options and I can signpost for further help if you feel you want it.
“I’m exhausted, I haven’t eaten in hours” - no problem let me cook you something nutritious make you a cup of team and lets have a chat
“my baby is making this noise” or “how many times should I change a nappy” or “why is their poo this colour” or “what should I dress my baby in” or “how much sick is normal” - again I am here to answer all your questions if I can or signpost to a professional if required.
“I really want to go out for a coffee or walk but it always takes too long and then I need to feed the baby or do a nappy change - I feel like I’m trapped at home” - I can certainly help and will support with actually leaving the house or if you want to feed / change your baby when your out.
How I can help you in:
Recovering after birth
Wondering how you’ll feel physically, what’s normal, and how to care for your body as it heals
Wanting to breastfeed but finding it painful, confusing, or emotional? Or needing help with bottles, expressing, and feeding plans that work for you and your baby.
Feeding your baby
Emotional and physical support after birth
Having someone there to listen, reassure, and support you through the ups and downs when it all feels harder than expected.
Helping with nutritious meals, light household tasks like washing, cooking, tidying and creating space for you to rest.
Practical help at home
Having a moment to yourself
When all you want is a shower, a hot cup of tea, or five quiet minutes to breathe
Navigating appointments, conflicting advice & information overload
Midwives, health visitors, GP appointments, it can be hard keeping track of who to see when - understanding what happens next and feeling confident to ask questions and feel like your being listened to.
Helping an unsettled baby
Support with crying, reflux, allergies, or feeding challenges - and reassurance when things feel overwhelming.
When your partner returns to work and simply getting out the house
Feeling anxious about how you’ll cope on your own and how everything will get done.

Everyone is different. For those who like to be prepared then I would say as soon as you feel ready antenatally - that way we can work through a postnatal plan and make sure that you have everything you need ahead of arriving home with your baby
-
A postnatal doula looks after the mother and parents ensuring they are well rested, infomraed and their mental and physical wellbeing whereas a maternity nurse main focus is on the baby.

By meeting them and seeing if you gel! It is important that you get on well and don’t mind spending time with them. I’d usually say you will get a pretty quick idea as to whether they are the right fit for you and your family

The fact I have just been through it all! I mention that I have had two very different experiences with my children and understand first hand how wonderful and hard it can be! Having previously worked in the commercial property industry and understanding our societal and cultural pressures I can help mothers and families navigate their own path on this journey whether its your first or second child - every journey is different!
